Electrical Equipment and Appliances

Fridges, freezers, screens and anything classed as WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) cannot be mixed with other rubbish. These items hold components and gases that have to be stripped out and recycled separately. Take them to a local recycling centre or use a retailer take-back scheme when buying a replacement.

Large Batteries

Vehicle and industrial batteries contain acid and heavy metals that may leak into the environment, contaminating the rest of the waste and the surrounding ground. Keep them separate and dispose of them through designated collection points, or a garage or scrap dealer for vehicle batteries.

Gas Cylinders

Gas cylinders stay pressurised even when they feel empty, making them a fire and explosion risk if damaged or stored incorrectly. For that reason, they can never go in a skip. Return them to your supplier or a licensed handler.

Medical Waste

Clinical and healthcare waste such as sharps, dressings and medicines needs a dedicated, licensed collection service to ensure safe disposal and avoid contamination risks. It's classed as hazardous and must never be mixed with general rubbish. Pharmacies can take back medicines and sharps in many cases.

Asbestos

Asbestos is hazardous and tightly regulated, so it must be disposed of through a specialist service. Our company doesn't collect asbestos, but we can recommend a trusted licensed asbestos contractor - get in touch and we will point you in the right direction.

Tyres

Tyres are banned from landfills in the UK. They have to be shredded and processed by specialised recycling plants. Some suppliers accept old tyres; you can also take them to a local recycling centre.

Fuel, Solvents, and Paints

Fuel, solvents and liquid paints are flammable and create contamination risks unless stored and handled properly. Chemical substances cannot be disposed of with other rubbish, as potential fumes and leaks put crews and the environment at risk. Take them to a licensed household hazardous waste centre following your council's guidance.

Best for: high-volume construction and clearance projects that produce bulky rubbish quickly.
