Efficient Skip Hire Service in Hanwell

Waste management, whether it is a one-off construction clearance or a long-term commercial contract, needs professionalism, timeliness and flexibility. When choosing a skip hire company in Hanwell, what matters is whether it can actually meet your schedule - and that is what B&K is set up to do.

Our prices are competitive, we offer a full range of skip size options for every kind of job, and our hire terms are flexible - a 14-day standard period, skip exchanges for longer projects, and same or next-day delivery. Everything we collect goes to our own waste transfer station, where 98% of it is recycled.

Skip Hire Hanwell: Materials We Don't Handle

Electrical Equipment and Appliances

Items classed as WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) cannot go in a skip. Fridges, freezers, televisions, computers and microwaves contain heavy metals and refrigerant gases that need specialist recycling and cannot be processed at a standard waste transfer station. Take them to a household recycling centre or use a retailer take-back scheme.

Large Batteries

Car batteries and large industrial batteries are not accepted. They contain lead and acid that can leak in transit, contaminating the whole load and turning it into hazardous waste. Garages, scrap metal merchants and household recycling centres take them, usually free of charge.

Gas Cylinders

Gas cylinders are prohibited whether full or empty. They stay pressurised and combustible, creating a risk of fire or explosion during transport and at the transfer station - even an apparently empty cylinder holds residual gas. Return them to the original supplier or a gas stockist.

Medical Waste

Medical and clinical waste is not allowed in a skip and cannot legally be handled by a skip hire company. Needles, syringes, soiled dressings and pharmaceutical waste carry an infection risk, so they must go to a licensed clinical waste contractor. Unused medicines can be returned to a pharmacy.

Asbestos

Asbestos is an extremely hazardous material linked to serious lung disease and cancer, and it is illegal to mix any quantity of it with general rubbish. Older Hanwell properties can still contain it in garage roofs, soffits and floor tiles. B&K does not remove asbestos - you will need a licensed asbestos removal contractor.

Tyres

Tyres are banned from landfill and need a dedicated recycling route, and they are bulky enough to damage sorting machinery. Take old tyres to a registered tyre recycling facility, or leave them with a tyre fitter when you buy replacements.

Fuel, Solvents, and Paints

Liquids such as fuel, solvents, paints and oils are banned from our skips. They are flammable, toxic or polluting, can ignite in transit and can contaminate groundwater if they leak. Your local council's hazardous waste service or household recycling centre will take them - fully hardened, dried-out paint tins are usually accepted.

Skip Hire vs Rubbish Removal - Which Do You Need?

B&K offers both skip hire and rubbish removal in Hanwell. The right choice depends on your project, how much space you have and how quickly you need the waste gone.

Choose Skip Hire when...

  • You have a large or multi-day project, such as a renovation or building work.
  • You want to load waste at your own pace, over up to 14 days.
  • You have space for a skip - a driveway, or a public road where we can arrange a permit.
  • You are clearing heavier waste such as soil, rubble or construction materials.

Choose Rubbish Removal when...

  • Access is limited - no driveway, a skip lorry can't fit, or a permit is not possible.
  • You need a one-off, same-day clearance rather than an ongoing skip.
  • Our cage van handles it: 1 tonne loading capacity, or up to 5 tonnes with the large cage.
  • It is a wait-and-load service - your waste is loaded within a standard 30-minute window, so please have it ready and accessible.

Not sure which is right for you? Get in touch and we will point you to the most cost-effective option.

Skip Hire Permits, Waste Removal and Flexible Terms in Hanwell

B&K aims to be a single point of contact for skip hire in Hanwell. Order before 12pm for same-day delivery, subject to availability, or book for the next working day. The standard hire period is 14 days, so you can fill the skip at your own pace, with rental fees of £50 per skip (or £70 per roll-on roll-off container) applying only if you keep it longer.

If the skip has to stand on a public road rather than a driveway, a permit from Ealing Council is required by law - we apply for it on your behalf, and the council fee is charged separately. For addresses where a skip is not practical, our wait and load service clears the waste in one visit instead.

About Hanwell

Hanwell is a district of the London Borough of Ealing, in West London, covering the W7 postcode area. It is known for its green spaces, historic landmarks and settled residential community.

Some of its buildings date back to the 17th century, and its landmarks include the former Hanwell Asylum, the Hanwell Clock Tower, Bunny Park and the Grand Union Canal. Mixed housing stock and good rail and bus links to central London have kept the area growing, with both homeowners and local businesses well established.

Hanwell sits inside our core delivery area, a short run from our Ruislip depot, which is why prices here are at the lower end of our rate card and same-day delivery is usually straightforward. Whether it is construction clearance, a house clear-out or an ongoing commercial contract, B&K can cover it.

FAQ Skip Hire in Hanwell

Skip hire prices in Hanwell start from £295 + VAT (£354.00 inc. VAT) for an 8-yard skip. A 12-yard skip starts from £360 + VAT (£432.00 inc. VAT) and a 16-yard skip from £445 + VAT (£534.00 inc. VAT). Every price includes delivery, collection and responsible disposal. The final cost depends on the skip size, hire duration and whether you need a permit. See our price list or contact us for an accurate quote.
It depends on the volume of waste. An 8-yard skip holds around 6 m³ (60-70 bin bags) and suits garden clearances, renovations and heavy waste. A 12-yard skip holds around 9 m³ (80-100 bags), ideal for bulky, lighter rubbish and shop or office clear-outs. A 16-yard skip holds around 12 m³ (120-130 bags) and is best for the largest commercial and construction clearances. If you are unsure, call us and we will recommend the right size.
The standard hire period is 14 days, which suits most domestic and commercial projects, and the collection date is flexible within that. If you need longer, please arrange it with our team when booking - rental fees of £50 per skip (or £70 per roll-on roll-off container) may apply after the standard period.
Yes. If the skip is placed on a public road or council-owned land rather than on private land such as a driveway, a permit from Ealing Council is required by law. B&K arranges the permit and paperwork for you. The council permit fee is charged separately, as it is set by the council.
Yes. If you don't have a driveway, the skip can be placed on the public road with a council permit, which we arrange for you. If a permit is not possible or space is limited, our wait and load cage van service is a practical alternative.
Yes, we offer same and next-day delivery. For same-day delivery, please order before 12pm, subject to availability. Hanwell is close to our depot, so same-day slots are usually available. Early-afternoon enquiries are welcome and we will always do our best to help.
Our skips take most general, non-hazardous waste: household items and old furniture, garden waste, and construction debris such as soil, rubble and wood, as well as scrap metal, paper, gypsum and plastic. Certain materials are not allowed for safety and legal reasons - see the next question.
The following can't go in a skip and need specialist disposal: electrical appliances (WEEE), large batteries, gas cylinders, medical waste, asbestos, tyres, and fuel, solvents or paints. Most of these can be taken to a local recycling centre or civic amenity site. For asbestos, a licensed contractor is required - B&K does not remove asbestos.
Yes, but soil, rubble and hardcore are classed as heavy waste and are subject to the skip's weight limit. For heavy waste we usually recommend an 8-yard skip, which takes up to 8 tonnes. Please tell us in advance if you are disposing of heavy waste so we can advise on the best skip.
Our 8-yard skip takes up to 8 tonnes, while our 12-yard and 16-yard skips each take up to 7 tonnes. Larger skips are designed for bulky, lighter waste, whereas the 8-yard skip is well suited to heavier materials such as soil and rubble.
After collection, your waste is taken to our own waste transfer station, where it is sorted and processed. Around 98% of everything we receive is recycled, diverting it from landfill in line with our environmental responsibilities as a registered waste carrier.
Our headline prices are shown excluding VAT, with VAT added at the standard rate. For example, an 8-yard skip in Hanwell starts from £295 + VAT, which is £354.00 including VAT. Delivery, collection and disposal are included in the price.
Skip hire is a convenient way to clear large volumes of waste from a renovation, house move or garden project, and it saves the time and effort of repeated trips to a disposal site. For anything more than a car boot load it usually works out cheaper too. It also keeps you on the right side of your duty of care - as a carrier registered with the Environment Agency, B&K sorts and recycles 98% of what it receives.
