Local Skip Hire, Camden: Domestic and Commercial Waste Removal

Skip delivery in Camden

Whether you need short-term skip hire for a one-off house clearance or ongoing disposal for a commercial site, we run the whole job in-house: our own fleet, our own waste transfer station. What that means in practice:

  • Three skip sizes - 8, 12 and 16 yards - to match the scale of the project.
  • Same-day delivery on orders placed before 12pm, subject to availability.
  • A 14-day standard hire period, so you can load at your own pace.
  • Council permits arranged for you where the skip goes on a public road.
  • Sorting and recycling at our own transfer station - 98% of what we receive is recycled.

Types of Waste Not Suitable for Our Skip Hire, Camden

Electrical Equipment & Appliances

Items classed as WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) cannot go in a skip. This includes fridges, freezers, televisions, computers and microwaves. They contain refrigerants and heavy metals that need specialist recycling and cannot be processed at a standard waste transfer station. Take them to your local recycling centre or a WEEE recycler.

Large Batteries

Car batteries and large industrial batteries are not accepted. They contain lead and acid that can leak in transit, contaminating the rest of the load and making the whole skip hazardous. Take them to a designated battery collection point, a scrap yard or a garage that accepts them.

Gas Cylinders

Full or empty gas cylinders are strictly prohibited. They stay pressurised and combustible, creating a risk of fire or explosion during transport and at the transfer station. Even an empty cylinder holds residual gas. Return them to the original supplier or a cylinder refill point.

Medical Waste

Needles, syringes, soiled dressings, pharmaceuticals and biological waste are classed as medical waste and carry health and contamination risks. Our skips in Camden are not a suitable disposal route - this waste must be handled by a licensed medical waste contractor, and unused medicines can be returned to a pharmacy.

Asbestos

Asbestos is still present in plenty of Camden's older housing stock. It is linked to serious illness and it is illegal to mix it with general rubbish, so it cannot go in our skips. You must use a licensed asbestos removal contractor - contact us and we can point you to one.

Tyres

Tyres are banned from landfill and need their own recycling route, and they can also damage sorting machinery, so please don't put them in a skip. Take old tyres to a registered tyre recycling facility or your local recycling centre - many garages and tyre retailers will also take them back.

Fuel, Solvents, and Paints

Fuel, oils, solvents, paints and other liquid chemicals are not accepted. They are flammable, toxic or polluting, can ignite in transit and can contaminate groundwater if they leak from the skip. Contact your local council for the nearest hazardous household waste disposal point.

Skip Hire vs Rubbish Removal - Which Do You Need?

B&K offers both skip hire and rubbish removal in Camden. The right choice depends on your project, how much space you have and how quickly you need the waste gone - worth thinking about here, where off-street space is scarce and most skips end up on the road.

Choose Skip Hire when...

  • You have a large or multi-day project, such as a renovation or building work.
  • You want to load waste at your own pace, over up to 14 days.
  • You have space for a skip - a driveway, or a public road where we can arrange a permit.
  • You are clearing heavier waste such as soil, rubble or construction materials.

Choose Rubbish Removal when...

  • Access is limited - no driveway, a skip lorry can't fit, or a permit is not possible.
  • You need a one-off, same-day clearance rather than an ongoing skip.
  • Our cage van handles it: 1 tonne loading capacity, or up to 5 tonnes with the large cage.
  • It is a wait-and-load service - your waste is loaded within a standard 30-minute window, so please have it ready and accessible.

Not sure which is right for you? Get in touch and we will point you to the most cost-effective option.

Affordable Skips from B&K - Skip Hire, Camden

The standard hire period is 14 days, so you can fill the skip at your own pace, with rental fees of £50 per skip (or £70 per roll-on roll-off container) applying only if you keep it longer. Where a skip is not practical - a narrow street, no off-street space, or a permit that isn't possible - our wait and load service is a fast alternative.

About Camden

Camden is one of London's busiest boroughs, known for its music venues, markets and dense mix of Victorian terraces, converted flats, retail and hospitality - especially around Camden Town, Kentish Town and Camden High Street. Waste here ranges from flat clear-outs and renovation rubble to shop and restaurant refits.

Off-street parking is limited across most of the borough, so skips usually need to go on the road. That means a permit from Camden Council, which we arrange for you. No permit is needed for a skip on private land.

Skip Hire Camden FAQ

Skip hire prices in Camden start from £322.50 + VAT (£387.00 inc. VAT) for an 8-yard skip. A 12-yard skip starts from £397.50 + VAT (£477.00 inc. VAT) and a 16-yard skip from £467.50 + VAT (£561.00 inc. VAT). Every price includes delivery, collection and responsible disposal. The final cost depends on the skip size, hire duration, your postcode and whether you need a permit. See our price list or contact us for an accurate quote.
It depends on the volume of waste. An 8-yard skip holds around 6 m³ (60-70 bin bags) and suits garden clearances, renovations and heavy waste. A 12-yard skip holds around 9 m³ (80-100 bags), ideal for bulky, lighter rubbish and shop-fitting projects. A 16-yard skip holds around 12 m³ (120-130 bags) and is best for the largest commercial and construction clearances. If you are unsure, call us and we will recommend the right size.
The standard hire period is 14 days, which suits most domestic and commercial projects. You can fill the skip at your own pace within that time. If you need a longer duration, please arrange this with our team when booking - rental fees of £50 per skip (or £70 per roll-on roll-off container) may apply after the standard period.
Yes, if the skip is placed on a public road, pavement or council-owned land rather than on private land such as a driveway, a permit from Camden Council is required by law. B&K arranges the permit and paperwork for you. The council permit fee is charged separately, as it is set by the council. No permit is needed for a skip on your own private property.
Yes. If you don't have a driveway, the skip can be placed on the public road with a council permit, which we arrange for you. This is the usual arrangement in Camden, where off-street space is scarce. If a permit is not possible or space is limited, our wait and load cage van service is a practical alternative.
Yes, we offer same and next-day delivery. For same-day delivery, please order before 12pm, subject to availability. Where a road permit is needed, delivery also depends on the council approving it, so let us know as early as you can. Early-afternoon enquiries are welcome and we will always do our best to help.
You can put most general rubbish in our skips, including household items, garden waste, and construction debris like soil, rubble and wood, as well as scrap metal, paper, gypsum and plastic. Certain materials are not allowed for safety and legal reasons - see the next question for what can't go in a skip.
The following can't go in a skip and need specialist disposal: electrical appliances (WEEE), large batteries, gas cylinders, medical waste, asbestos, tyres, and fuel, solvents or paints. Most of these can be taken to a local recycling centre or civic amenity site. For asbestos, a licensed contractor is required.
Yes, but soil, rubble and hardcore are classed as heavy waste and are subject to the skip's weight limit. For heavy waste we usually recommend an 8-yard skip, which takes up to 8 tonnes. Please tell us in advance if you are disposing of heavy waste so we can advise on the best skip.
Our 8-yard skip takes up to 8 tonnes, while our 12-yard and 16-yard skips each take up to 7 tonnes. Larger skips are designed for bulky, lighter waste, whereas the 8-yard skip is well suited to heavier materials such as soil and rubble.
After collection, your waste is taken to our own waste transfer station, where it is sorted and processed. Around 98% of everything we receive is recycled, diverting it from landfill in line with our environmental responsibilities as a registered waste carrier.
Our headline prices are shown excluding VAT, with VAT added at the standard rate. For example, an 8-yard skip in Camden starts from £322.50 + VAT, which is £387.00 including VAT. Delivery, collection and disposal are included in the price.
Skip hire is a convenient and cost-effective solution for disposing of large amounts of waste, saving you multiple trips to the tip. It also ensures your waste is disposed of legally and responsibly: as a fully licensed carrier, B&K handles the collection, sorting and appropriate recycling of the materials - we recycle 98% of what we receive.
