Electrical Equipment and Appliances

Items classed as WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) cannot go in a skip. This includes fridges, freezers, televisions, computers and microwaves. They contain refrigerants and heavy metals that need specialist recycling and cannot be processed at a standard waste transfer station. Take them to your local recycling centre or a WEEE recycler.

Large Batteries

Car batteries and large industrial batteries are not accepted. They contain lead and acid that can leak in transit, contaminating the rest of the load and making the whole skip hazardous. Take them to a designated battery collection point, a scrap yard or a garage that accepts them.

Gas Cylinders

Full or empty gas cylinders are strictly prohibited. They stay pressurised and combustible, creating a risk of fire or explosion during transport and at the transfer station. Even an empty cylinder holds residual gas. Return them to the original supplier or a cylinder refill point.

Medical Waste

Needles, syringes, soiled dressings, pharmaceuticals and biological waste are classed as medical waste and carry health and contamination risks. Our skip hire in Brentford is not a suitable disposal route - this waste must be handled by a licensed medical waste contractor, and unused medicines can be returned to a pharmacy.

Asbestos

Although asbestos is no longer used in construction, it is still found in older Brentford properties. It is linked to serious illness and it is illegal to mix it with general rubbish, so it cannot go in our skips. You must use a licensed asbestos removal contractor - contact us and we can point you to one.

Tyres

Tyres are banned from landfill and need their own recycling route, and they can also damage sorting machinery, so please don't put them in a skip. Take old tyres to a registered tyre recycling facility or your local recycling centre - many garages and tyre retailers will also take them back.

Fuel, Solvents, and Paints

Fuel, oils, solvents, paints and other liquid chemicals are not accepted. They are flammable, toxic or polluting, can ignite in transit and can contaminate groundwater if they leak from the skip. Contact your local council for the nearest hazardous household waste disposal point.

8 YARD SKIP

Capacity: approx. 6 m³ (around 60-70 standard bin bags)

Max load: up to 8 tonnes

Best for: kitchen and bathroom renovations, garden clearances, and heavy waste such as soil, concrete and rubble.

Our most popular hire option - fits on most driveways.

12 YARD SKIP

Capacity: approx. 9 m³ (around 80-100 standard bin bags)

Max load: up to 7 tonnes

Best for: bulky but lighter rubbish from full house clearances or shop-fitting, such as furniture and large packaging.

Not suitable for filling entirely with heavy rubbish like soil or hardcore - choose the 8-yard for those.

16 YARD SKIP

Capacity: approx. 12 m³ (around 120-130 standard bin bags)

Max load: up to 7 tonnes

Best for: major construction projects and commercial refurbishments producing light, bulky waste.

Our maxi skip - substantial volume for major clearances.

• You have space for a skip - a driveway, or a public road where we can arrange a permit.
• You are clearing heavier waste such as soil, rubble or construction materials.

• Access is limited - no driveway, a skip lorry can't fit, or a permit is not possible.
• You need a one-off, same-day clearance rather than an ongoing skip.
