Electrical Equipment and Appliances

Items classed as WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) cannot go in a skip. This includes fridges, freezers, televisions, computers and microwaves. They contain components such as heavy metals and refrigerants that need specialist recycling and cannot be processed at a standard waste transfer station. Take them to a household recycling centre or a retailer take-back scheme.

Large Batteries

Car batteries and other large industrial batteries are not allowed. The lead and acid they contain pose a health, environmental and fire risk during transport and processing, and a single leak can contaminate the whole load. Smaller batteries go in supermarket collection boxes; vehicle and industrial batteries need a specialist recycling point.

Gas Cylinders

Full or empty gas cylinders are strictly prohibited. They stay pressurised and combustible, creating a serious risk of fire or explosion in transit and at the transfer station. Even an empty cylinder holds residual gas. Please return cylinders to the original supplier for refilling or reuse.

Medical Waste

Medical and biological waste is not allowed. This covers needles, syringes, soiled dressings and expired medication. It is hazardous and can spread infection to our crew and sorting staff, so it must be handled by licensed medical waste contractors. Unused medicines can be returned to a pharmacy.

Asbestos

Asbestos is highly toxic and linked to serious lung disease, and it turns up regularly in Isleworth's older housing stock. Professional handling is required by law, and B&K does not remove it - you will need a licensed asbestos removal contractor. Never mix it with general rubbish.

Tyres

Tyres are banned from landfill, need a specific recycling route and can damage sorting machinery. Take them to a registered tyre recycling facility, ask a Tyre Recovery Association member for a local collector, or leave them with a garage when you buy replacements.

Fuel, Solvents, and Paints

Liquids such as fuel, solvents, paints and oils are flammable, toxic or polluting. They can cause chemical burns, ignite in transit and contaminate groundwater if they leak from the skip. Take them to a licensed hazardous waste disposal centre - your local council will tell you where the nearest one is.

Best for: domestic renovations, garden clearances and heavy waste such as soil, concrete and rubble.

Its compact footprint fits most private driveways, so you can avoid a highway permit altogether.

Capacity: approx. 9 m³ (around 80-100 standard bin bags)

Max load: up to 7 tonnes

Best for: medium-sized commercial jobs and bulkier items like furniture and shop fittings.

More volume per collection, so fewer swaps on site - but not one to fill with soil or hardcore.

16 YARD SKIP

Capacity: approx. 12 m³ (around 120-130 standard bin bags)

Max load: up to 7 tonnes

Best for: large commercial clear-outs and construction sites producing light, bulky waste.

• You have a large or multi-day project, such as a renovation or building work.
• You want to load waste at your own pace, over up to 14 days.
• You have space for a skip - a driveway, or a public road where we can arrange a permit.
• You are clearing heavier waste such as soil, rubble or construction materials.

Choose Rubbish Removal when...

• Access is limited - no driveway, a skip lorry can't fit, or a permit is not possible.
• You need a one-off, same-day clearance rather than an ongoing skip.
• Our cage van handles it: 1 tonne loading capacity, or up to 5 tonnes with the large cage.
• It is a wait-and-load service - your waste is loaded within a standard 30-minute window, so please have it ready and accessible.
