Electrical Equipment and Appliances
Fridges, freezers, televisions, computer monitors and microwaves are classified as WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment). They contain refrigerants, rare metals and other components that require specialist recycling and cannot be processed at a standard waste transfer station. Large Batteries
Car batteries and other large industrial batteries contain lead and acid. A knock during loading or tipping can split the casing, which contaminates the whole load and turns it into hazardous waste. Take them to a specialist collection point or a garage that accepts them.
Gas Cylinders
Full or empty gas cylinders are not permitted. They stay pressurised and can explode when crushed or heated, which is a serious risk at the transfer station and in transit. Even an empty cylinder holds residual gas. Return them to the original supplier or refill scheme.
Medical Waste
Medical and biological waste, including needles, syringes, soiled dressings and pharmaceutical waste, is hazardous and cannot go in a skip - it can spread infection if the load is handled or sorted by hand. It has to be collected by a licensed clinical waste contractor, and unused medicines can be returned to any pharmacy.
Asbestos
Asbestos is an extremely hazardous material linked to serious lung disease, and it is illegal to mix it with general rubbish. Delivery, Hire Period & Collection in Ealing
